Reliance Leadership Strategies is a division of Reliance Consulting Resources, LLC, which was formed in 2020 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Park View Federal Credit Union in Harrisonburg, VA.
Ken Gonyer, CEC - Lead Consulting Partner
Ken is a successful former CEO whose passion is to see leaders thrive. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Choice Books, a national wholesale book distributor, before spearheading a national merger and restructuring plan that positioned the company for sustainable growth. Before Choice Books, Ken was a top executive at Park View Federal Credit Union (which now owns Reliance Leadership Strategies) for 15 years, providing leadership in member services, marketing, retail operations, branch management, and e-services implementation. His colleagues appreciated his intense commitment to credit union members and employees as he pursued what he called the "people development business."
Ken is a Certified Executive Coach who has logged hundreds of coaching hours with executive-level leaders. His genuine love for leaders empowers insight that is communicated both with brutal honesty and deep empathy. He is professionally credentialed by the International Coaching Federation and has a decade of experience providing independent leadership coaching and strategic planning facilitation services.
Ken is the author of two books and dozens of articles published in Credit Union Magazine, Credit Union Times, CUInsight, and Credit Union Business News, for which he was a Contributing Editor. He has also been a resource to the Virginia Credit Union League as a speaker, trainer, and panelist. He was a keynote speaker at the Credit Union Marketing Council’s East Coast Marketing and Business Development Conference, and a Main Stage Speaker at the Christian Products Expo.
On the off-hours, Ken loves hiking in nearby Shenandoah National Park, strength training, writing, serving at his church, and painting. He's devoted to his wife of over three decades and the two wonderful young adults who call him "Dad."
